Unreliable Sources – Press

Press coverage is well-known for bias in all areas of the political, global, and socio-economic spheres. To determine if a press source is anti-Israel, check:

• AllSides – AllSides Bias Checker is great for evaluating the bias in a specific article. Use requires free registration by email or Google account.
• Camera – The site lists false claims by press name, and lists press corrections that often go undetected after the damage of libel is done.
• Ground News – Ground News is a news aggregator that presents a news story, providing multiple sources. A reader can read a few left-wing sources and a few right-wing sources to get a more nuanced understanding of the full story and come away with a better idea of which news sources may show unreasonable bias. Use requires free registration via email or Google account.
• HonestReporting – HonestReporting has a helpful News by Topic that includes evaluations of articles by Press site.

Al Jazeera

Al Jazeera continues to be a major exporter of hateful content against the Jewish people, Israel, the United States, and any Middle East country that does not align with Qatar. So much so, it is worthwhile for U.S. officials to evaluate whether or not Al Jazeera should be required to register with the Justice Department as a foreign agent over its extensive ties to the Qatari regime. This would be an important signal to potential consumers that Al Jazeera’s messages should be approached with greater caution.

To see how skewed against Israel the reporting is, one can go to the Arabic version of the Al Jazeera website, have the browser translate the page, click on an article about Israel, then have the browser translate the article. See if the article opposes Israel’s actions, reports about Israel’s actions with incendiary language, or does proper journalism by reporting the facts without any nuance of demonization.

Al Jazeera is funded by Qatar, the same country that funds terrorist organizations Hamas, the Muslim Brotherhood, Al-Qaeda, the Taliban, and ISIS.

Al Jazeera has been banned and/or restricted in the following countries for promoting propaganda and inciting violence:

• Algeria (2004, temporarily)
• Kuwait (1999, 2002, 2010)
• Bahrain (2002, 2010, 2016, 2017)
• Jordan (2002, 2017)
• Iraq (2003, 2013, 2016)
• Egypt (2011, 2013, 2014, 2017, 2023)
• Saudi Arabia (since 2017)
• United Arab Emirates (since 2017)
• Sudan (2019, 2022)
• Israel (2024)
• The Palestinian Authority (2025)

BBC

BBC Arabic has anti-Israel bias as do certain parts of the BBC, specifically BBC News and Newsnight, but in a much milder form than Al Jazeera.

For example, in a biased documentary about Palestinians living in the Palestinian territories, the documentary translated “Yahud” as “Israel” or “Israeli Forces” or “IDF.” Arabic has different words for “Israel” and “Zionist” and “IDF.” The word “Yahud” is Arabic for “Jews.” So when a leader of Hamas, Yahya Sinwar, was shown calling for a “jihad against the Jews,” the BBC translated that as a “fight against the Israeli forces.”

While BBC English covered articles condemning Hamas and the attack against Israel, BBC Arabic did not have any such articles. However, when BBC English criticized Israel, BBC Arabic replicated the articles in Arabic.
